My talented designer friend, Beth, introduced me to Vagabond. Vagabond is a little inconspicuous coffee shop about 10 minutes walk from Finsbury Park Station on Stroud Green Road.
Don’t be deceived by looks. It’s small and looked a bit hot and sweaty from the outside, but inside, it’s cosy, with lots of lovely little wooden crates for seats, unusual art on the walls and your veritable mix of hipster-y looking geek-chick crowd. Whilst I’m not a coffee drinker, I’ve heard their flat whites and espressos are worth a shot. They use Has Bean and Union Coffee and it smells delicious.
Feeling a little peckish, I went for their vegetarian omelette. It comes on a board, served with a couple of slices of hardy and wholesome brown bread. Needless to say, this pretty much vanished in an instant. I was ravenous and this was perfectly-sized for keeping my hunger gremlin at bay.
For those with a sweet tooth, there’s also a selection of home-baked cakes and pastries. Perfect after a Vagabond sarnie or bowl of soup.
Vagabond unfortunately isn’t as much of a well-kept secret as it used to be so go with patience – it may take a short while to grab a table. But the wait is worth it.
