HB Eats: Sweetcorn Fritters Recipe for Babies

Baby hands love sweetcorn fritters! These are a fab way to get a bunch of veg into your child’s diet whilst at the same time supporting baby-led weaning. Little hands can also easily grasp the fritters and you can make them into different shapes too. For this recipe, the sweetcorn is roughly chopped so you…

Chilled Green Soup with ZICO Coconut Water

Cold soup, like gazpacho, was never a favourite for me – I didn’t get the whole cold soup concept. In fact, I’m not really a fan of cold food and I especially love my comfort food! But there are times when all you want is a cold soup. This is great as everything in it…

Get Up & Go Healing Smoothie

Feeling a bit run down? A bit snotty perhaps? I’ve got the perfect thing for you. Now before you go straight to the ingredients list and how to make it, listen up; it’s weird. But don’t judge it because of that! I’ve made some strange concoctions in my time (most of which get trialled by…

Chocolate Avocado Mousse with Zico Coconut Water

As a newly appointed #teamzico ambassador, there were so many ideas running about in my head as to what to make that I literally had no idea where to start. Until a friend invited me over for dinner and I shunned her suggestion of ice cream for pudding (lactose-free, me) and decided to bring my own….

Soup for when you’re feeling run-down

Soup for when you’re feeling run-down

SERVES 6 I always eat this soup when I’m feeling run-down. Actually, it was my Chinese waxer, Wen from Chisense, who gave me the idea for this. It’s so simple and easy to make that it’s perfect for those days when you need healthy comfort food. I love going to see Wen. She’s become a…

    My First Time: Making Sushi

    My First Time: Making Sushi

Today I really fancied sushi. Mainly because I had some smoked salmon in the fridge that needed eating and the night before I’d gorged on creamy salmon pasta. The salmon had to be used up and it wasn’t going to be on salmon pasta. I had to be more inventive than that! I decided, having…

    • SATURDAY SUNSHINE // HB picked flowers for his Gran Elly (she was actually more pleased about it than she looks...), got given a WHOLE ice lolly from one of the carers, was hissed at for getting up in the Care Home cat’s face (Tom-Tom has a lot more spunk than our two cats), showed off his Bball skills, watched Daddy play, and then had to be removed because not only was he getting cranky but he kept trying to throw balls onto the court 🙈
.
All in all, a good day for this monkey ☺️
    • When you go to bed far too late and your little one gets up far too early but you can’t stay grumpy because he insists on picking you ‘Mummy Flowers’ 😍
    • SUMMER LOVING // Cooling off the monkey with homemade fruit ice lollies.
.
This one is a smoosh of banana, strawberries and lime. It went down well but he never eats more than a third at a time so even though these are teeny, they last a long time (yes, I totally put them back in the freezer between licks).
.
We’ve also had good success with blended coconut milk, pineapple and banana (any chance I get I put banana in things as he eats a bit, I get excited, stock up on them, at which point he wants to open them but eat them?? Naaaaah... Hence why we have so many brown bananas in our house. And no, I don’t like bananas much either...)
.
What flavours shall I try for his next ice lollies?
    • Putting some of the wisdom from @erinniimi ‘s debut book Japonisme, into practice and taking some time out to regroup my thoughts. I’ve been alternating between being knackered and trying to tick off everything on my to-do list that I’m not putting my energy where it’s most needed.
.
Although am very much tempted to make one of my favourite dishes that I’ve spotted the recipe for in Japonisme - Nasu Dengaku (also known as Miso Aubergine. Also known as ‘Could Eat This Every Day’) 🙈

    • READY STEADY GO! // I’ve been down this slide a dozen times today. That also means I’ve had to walk up it a dozen times. And it’s steep. And tall. And I either have to carry HB up or hold his hands. And by holding his hands, I mean he leans back as far as he can putting all his weight into his arms which I’m supporting. For anyone who wants to get fit, I’ll loan you my slide-loving child for £10 an hour. I need a break... 🙈☺️
