The Four Stages of Drinking Vietnamese Egg Coffee For the First Time

The Four Stages of Drinking Vietnamese Egg Coffee

Egg Coffee (cà phê trứng) is a Vietnamese drink that is served throughout cafes in Hanoi. It’s made using egg yolk, sugar and coffee, although condensed milk is often included too. It sounded weird, and so of course, we had to try it. The egg coffee, when served (we got ours from the Hanoi Social…

Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Review

Jack Links Beef Jerky Review

To celebrate the launch of Jack Link’s, the American snack brand, in Tesco Express stores all across the UK, they sent me a squishy envelope full of them. Now, I *think* I’ve tried beef jerky before (it was a while ago) and it wasn’t very nice; imagine eating a bit of your shoe – it…

Everyone’s Talking About… Bubble Tea

Yao Yao Cha Bubble Tea - passionfruit

There’s a new craze that’s come to London all the way from Taiwan. If you’re out and about in central London, you may spot huddles of teenagers or a brisk walking businessman, with a plastic cup in hand and giant straw. If you look closer, you may even see round balls in the bottom of…

I Eat Grub

Eat Grub Review - soy crickets

My sister, Rosie, and I decided to enjoy a night out that boasted of protein-rich, calorie-low ingredients; we were at Grub, eating a seven course tasting menu made from crickets, grasshoppers and buffalo worms.  “What are these?” “It’s legs.” “Oh. It has really fat thighs.” A second later, my sister hungrily scooped up a mouthful…

Braised Shark in Coconut: A Recipe

How to cook shark: A recipe for braised shark in coconut

So shark isn’t something I’d normally seek out. But having been rather terrified by the crawling langoustine in the fishmongers, Meek & Wild, the shark fillets didn’t seem like such a bad option. At least it was already dead.* For anyone who hasn’t been, Meek & Wild are in Highbury. Their fish comes in fresh…

The Cardon Blue: A dedication to a strange dish in Kosovo

Food in Kosovo Cordon Bleu

I’m in Kosovo. It’s pretty crazy. But I’ll tell you about that later. For now, for this blog post, I’m holding a dedication to the most amazing item on the Hotal Afa room service menu – The Cardon Blue. For those who have ever had a proper Cordon Bleu, you will know this is a…

For those who think cats are mere animals, they’ For those who think cats are mere animals, they’re not. They’re small, crafty little buggers, whom in my case, are demonstrating their outrage at the arrival of our new human kitten by either staring at me ferociously from 6 inches away or finding ways to grab my attention. Literally.

Domino had enough of being polite and leapt on my back while I was tidying some stuff up and the more I looked like I was about to throw her off, the more she dug her murder mittens in. It wasn’t until I gave in and showered her with enough cuddles and chin scratches (strained my neck in the process), that she departed with as much grace as a flipperless walrus.

We have a name! Introducing Caspian Snow Flynn Ga We have a name!

Introducing Caspian Snow Flynn Gash 💕 His two big brothers are very happy that they got to help name him. If we were to use all the names which they and his friends suggested however, he would be Caspian Snow Rainbow Sunshine Barry Gary Arthur Hector Flynn Gash, which would make filling out forms rather awkward indeed.

It was also full of delighted shrieks when exploring @discover_story ‘s 100 Story Hotel exhibition based on @rbiddulph books, grinning faces, and cute moments.

Wouldn’t change it for the world ☺️

Thanks @heroic_knitting for providing the ‘muscle’* - carrying the buggy up and down stairs, and also Hector when he was sad.

* Obviously, you also provide sparkling conversation and witty banter too 🤣

So far, he’s an absolute adorable squish who has already decided that the best place to be is on the boob or being held. His brothers have temporarily named him Snow while his parents decide on a more permanent name, and they’ve been fantastic at singing to him and watching nappy changes with great interest.

Took this monkey swimming and only realised once I was there that my bump was so huge that it pulled all the material of my swimming costume forward, thus giving me a wedgie and a camel toe at the same time. Thankfully, I couldn’t see the disaster zone but I apologise to everyone else who will never be able to unsee the horrors.

What do you do when your Easter weekend caravannin What do you do when your Easter weekend caravanning has been scuppered by advice from your midwives telling you to stay closer home to home and near a hospital JUST IN CASE the Bumpling decides to make a fast and furious arrival?

You organise a thousand day trips which involve ridiculous amounts of travel and is MUCH more stressful than your original holiday plans 🤪

The boys had a lovely time, however, at the Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace. We found all the bunnies, and learnt a little about famous people in history. The boys were SHOCKED that Oliver Cromwell had the audacity to cancel Christmas and were also quite intrigued about Mary Frith’s pickpocketing skills.

If you’re thinking of going, it might be an idea to get membership as this gives you entrance to The Tower of London, Kensington Palace and a couple of other places. Food is pricey as expected but there are plenty of places for a picnic. We also enjoyed the Maze (it’s a lot smaller than I remember all those years ago when I was a kid) and the kids playground which has a small splash area too so bring spare clothes if your little one is a water sprite. We ended up parking in Bushy Park as it’s free (and beautiful) but apparently the train from central London is super easy too (and you won’t get stuck in traffic on the way home 😬)

What are your plans for Easter?

Felt cute, might delete later 🤣 Honestly, thes Felt cute, might delete later 🤣

Honestly, these guys’ facial expressions!

Headed to @coolcutskids as Hector could barely see through his fringe and Arthur’s bed head was getting out of control. Cool car chairs and Netflix made it all so much easier! And they know there’s a lollipop and balloon waiting for them at the end if they sit still. After several years of home haircuts, some terrible hairdressing choices by @tjjgash and Arthur’s desire for self-expression through scissors resulting in a severely dodgy fringe, i feel like they’re now in a reasonably good place. Although I’d love for them to have long flowing locks but that’s been vetoed 😭

What do you do with your little one’s hair?

"Eliza has been a dream come true for this very reluctant exerciser! My only goal when I started my PT sessions was to not dread the next session and actually want to persevere with regular exercise. Not only has Eliza got me looking forward to our weekly sessions but I’m also looking to make improvements on my performance every time I see her. I don’t feel that I’m working to her agenda and goals but to my own, which I’m incredibly grateful for as other PT's have gotten fed up with me pretty quickly. She’s incredibly thoughtful, heroically energised, always goes 'above and beyond' and really knows her stuff. I’m jolly glad to have found her."
